My off-site backup service is based on Secure Shell Acess (SSH). For most users I highly reccomend using the open source program Duplicati. Duplicati should takes less than five minutes to install and setup. Once setup it will automatically encrypt and copy all of the files you tell it to on a regular basis. Follow the guide bellow to learn how to install it.

Installing Duplicati: First, pick the version of the software that works for your computer. You can dowload them from this website using the links bellow, or go to the Duplicati home page and download it from them. If you are interested in the source code, please follow this link to access my local copy.

Select the verision of Duplicati that is correct for your operating system:

Please be aware that this software is newly developed and still in beta. As time goes on it will become more stable and robust.

Follow this link for installation instructions, at least until I post my own set. Once my servers are configured to allow you to log in I will send you your user name and password, as well as any other information about the service that may be necessary.

Using SSH: The front-end server can be connected to at backup.sudoseth.com, port 22. Your username and first password will be given to you once I activate your account. You will only have access to your home directory, but there is no size restriction within that directory.
